For the first time since covid, we left Florida to head north to New Hampshire. There were two events that got us to travel, the Celebration of Life for Bill’s Mom, Lorry and Bill’s 55th class reunion at Pinkerton Academy. There was lots of driving around New Hampshire and even a bit of Maine. We flew into Manchester and drove to Hillsborough to stay with BIll’s sister.
The next day was the Life Celebration in Bennington and then a 125 mile drive up into the White Mountains of New Hampshire to Chatham for his mom’s interment, where several of the Stiles relatives are buried. After the service at the graveside, we crossed over the state line into Fryeburg, Maine to get together with cousins. From there, 75 miles south to Berwick, Maine to visit friends Bill has known since the first grade in Windham, NH. We had dinner in Ogonquit and the next day drove to Derry, NH for the class reunion.
Pinkerton Academy has grown tremendously since the class of 1968 graduated. We had a great tour of the Academy. While it was interesting to see all of the new buildings and facilities, there was a certain nostalgia going through the original building we remembered so fondly. After the tour, it was off to a local restaurant to celebrate with our classmates. From Derry it was back to Manchester to spend the evening with Bill’s sister, before flying back to Florida on Monday.
